In the 17th century, a Tibetan friend of the Doctor's made contact with an alien energy, giving it a way to reach Earth. 300 years later, the Doctor went to the Himalayas to visit the Holy Ganta, an ancient relic he got from the grateful monks at Det-Sen Monastery. However, when he arrived, the Doctor was seen as a bad guy - blamed for a series of violent events in the area. Meanwhile, Jamie and Victoria found out who was really behind the trouble - the Yeti, who used to be peaceful, had turned violent. The Doctor had to convince the monks that he wasn't their enemy, but their real foe was living among them, controlling the Yeti. This foe was an alien entity known as the Great Intelligence, which had taken over their ancient Master, Padmasambhava. Most of the original 1967 recordings of the six-part adventure "The Abominable Snowmen" were lost after the show first aired. But audio recordings of all the episodes have survived, and have been used to create six new animated versions of the lost story, along with the one surviving segment, Episode Two.
